A dental practice rarely evokes relaxation. That’s precisely why we’ve taken a radically different approach here. At the Ghys Dental Practice in Lievegem, comfort and tranquility were central from the very first concept – for both the dentist and the patient. Their well-being was not an extra, but the starting point for the design.
A printed and illuminated acoustic canopy from MonaVisa was installed above the treatment chair. Instead of a clinical ceiling, it features a soft green canopy that both distracts and soothes. The soft greenery allows the gaze to wander, the breathing eases, and the space feels less technical and more human. At the same time, it absorbs the high-pitched sounds of the equipment —precisely the frequencies that strain hearing day in and day out. This makes hearing protection tangible without compromising aesthetics.
The same logic continues in the practice. The walls were fitted with acoustic prints depicting a forest scene , drawing the stately garden trees inside and allowing the outdoors and indoors to merge seamlessly. Noise from the reception area is silenced, the hallways are softer, and conversations no longer bump against hard surfaces. The practice de-stimulates – both auditorily and visually . MonaVisa’s acoustic, illuminated panels dampen sound, direct the atmosphere, and transform an often painful consultation into an almost meditative moment of calm . Patients experience attentive care, the team works in a protective environment, and this project demonstrates how acoustics, light, and experience can combine to transform a space .
Each realisation is a dialogue between architecture and acoustics, where technology becomes invisible and experience becomes tangible.
Every space is unique. We’re happy to help you find the right acoustic and aesthetic solution for your interior.
